DENIAL

"Denial" is a video art project that pays homage to the works of intermedia artist Gary Hill, as well as the video game Silent Hill 2. The aesthetics of "Tall Ships”, “Up Against Down”, “I Believe it is an Image in Light of the Other”, and “Inasmuch as it is Already Taking Place” are used to provide a glimpse into the world of a man remembering the loss of his significant other in a liminal environment.

 

Filming took place over a week in a single location. Minimal props such as a table, monitors, and a blank book were utilized. Most of the visual work was done in post, including editing pictures of the main actress into video, and polishing the sequence of how these images are conveyed. The highlight of this work is the sound design accompanying the imagery on screen. Overall, this project aims to give the viewer a glimpse into the mindset of a grieving man through engaging sound and visuals.
